Well if all goes well Im proposing we team up again with BPAM the power flying club in Burnley to allow us to come down to the Towneley flying thats on friday evenings when the nights get lighter. This would be an electric/glider evening with some power, but usually the chaps who have been down in the past on a Friday fly electric.... better than no flying - will keep you posted.

Yes thats how long the weather has prevented me from going for a glide on Pendle, and looks like today will break that long run of no fly weekends with the gliders... its a beautiful start with crisp clear skies and light S or SE breeze so it looks like the Sabden side later today with an electric floater.

It is with great sadness I have received news that Alan Hulme, the founder of the PSSA has passed away in the early hours of 5th January, having lost his ongoing battle with cancer. He died peacefully in his sleep at Chester Hospital. His daughter Jayne and his grandchildren are with Alan's wife Margaret at this time.
Alan was an active modeller since his childhood - across all divisions of our hobby from rubber powered free-flight to modern day EDF - over the past 24 years he has provided an immense amount of drive and enthusiasm for Power Scale Soaring in the UK.
Having founded the PSS Association in 1986 he went on to compile, edit and publish the quarterly PSSA magazines for many years and has designed and published plans for a vast number of successful PSS models, ranging from the Mustang to the Folland Gnat.
Alan could be found at the majority of PSS events up and down the country and was actively flying and coordinating events up until late Summer 2009 - at the Lleyn Peninsula and on The Great Orme, two places that were very special to him.
Alan will be sorely missed by all who knew him and our thoughts are with his family at this time.

Happy New Year - not flown for a while I bet !!
I bet you'd thought Id forgot about the AGM, but with the blizzard weather we have been enduring since before Christmas I thought it better to sort a date later in the month once the weather has turned a corner and allows us to get out safely.
Will keep you all posted as best as I can for the date. In the mean time if you wish to rejoin just email me your details and will add you to the list, fees will be the same at £5 but you need to sort your own insurance via BMFA as usual.
Just add your details in the form on the 'Contact Us' link at the top of the page.
Cheers
Simon

Xeno - The flying wing for ultimate slope and electric flying fun
At
many slopes and flat-field flying sites you will find dozens of flying
wings. These models are usually cut from various grades of foam and
stiffened with parcel tape. The Xeno is a superior version: more
elegant, of higher technical quality, and offering loads of convenience
as well as excellent flying fun.
When designing the Xeno we made
good creative use of the possibilities of 3-D CAD / CAM techniques and
modern foam moulding technology. The result is an interesting shape
with an unmistakable appearance.
For ease of transport the Xeno can
simply be folded together in a few seconds, and in this state it can be
carried safely and conveniently in a rucksack or similar.
Available from me at £52.00 for the Glider Kit - add £114 if you want the power set
